Hi. Lately I've been feeling like something has been wrong in my life. I wasn't sure how to pinpoint it though. Weirdly enough, I was watching Criminal Minds tonight and it got me thinking that maybe it was time to seek this out. I browsed the web for a while, and with quizzes and articles it seems like k might suffer from depression. I was wondering what the best way is to confirm this, and how to go about treating it without going to a professional. This has been going on for while, and I really would like to get some help. Thanks.

Hello & Welcome, Ironic_endings. Would it at least be possible to get a general health checkup with a primary care doctor? Sometimes depression symptoms overlap with those of other problems such as thyroid disorders, anemia, etc.

Many self-help approaches to depression exist and lots of Web resources.

This was very helpful for me. I too have just realized that something about my life just isn't right. I did some research, took a few quizzes and it all led to depression. I'm planning on going to a doctor as soon as possible to get a real diagnostic. I'm glad I found this thread, it was very helpful.

Thank you Rohag for answering. Sadly, I do not think it would be possible to meet with any professional for I do not want my parents knowing right now until I am sure of what I am going through. I am afraid I would hurt them too much right now, for they think that I am experiencing the best time of my life right now. As well, we recently found out that my brother also had severe depression when he was my age, and I do not want my parents to feel as if they are failing somehow, when it is I who am experiencing that right now. Thank you for all the web resources. I am eager to see if some of them can help.

Coolryder, I am glad that this was able to help. It makes me feel good to.know that I am not the only one to feel like this. I hope your meeting with the doctor goes well.
