Just wondering if anyone else with depression is experiencing this:
My energy and willingness to participate in life seems to be okay up until about 5 or so p.m. Then I get very lethargic, sleepy and kind of give up on life. I keep looking at the clock and can't wait to just retreat to my bed to just lie there, which I usually do by 7:30 even though I don't take my nighttime meds until 9 p.m. I wonder why this happens . . . any thoughts, or kindred spirits? |

we all have periods of high energy and low energy in the same day. paying attention to this allows us to focus getting the things we need to get done during our periods of higher energy. being depressed saps us of our motivation strenght and energy. so you may start off strong, but it takes a lot of energy to make it thru the day. by five, you just dont have anything left anymroe. this makes total sense. maybe if you took a little time in the middle of the day to relax and rejuvenate you would be able to make it longer into the evening.

My energy level wanes in the afternoon, too. I do very well for most of the day, but try to plans things that won't make me have to deal with stuff in the late afternoon or evening. I'm not sure why this is, but I've always done better in the mornings.

I have my tired spot in the morning and evening. It is all I can do to get out of bed in the morning and get to work on time. I used to be a morning person. I don't know if this has to do with depression or with the amitriptyline I take at night to prevent migraines. When I tried to stop the amitriptyline I got terrible migraines so I have to take this medicine. I also find I am fine energy wise until 8:30 at night. Then I am ready to crash in the bed. So I suppose my best energy level is right in the middle of the day.
