All I want to do is sleep, but then once I fall asleep I wake up and it's hours before I can go back to sleep again.

Somehow I'm not tired during the day.

However, I can't do anything. Cooking food is too much; I've gotten to the point where I buy granola bars by the case. Things I have to do, like work and life obligations, I just don't have the energy to get anything done. I'm weeks behind where I should be.

I'm disgusted with myself. So far I am barely, barely hanging on, and haven't missed anything too critical. I have no energy to live anymore. I just get through this minute, and get through the next minute, and hope like hell that nothing else is going to be thrown my way, because there's no way I could deal with it.

Hello, Arundelle. Just to rule out any medical disorders (anemia, thyroid, etc.), have you had a physician's checkup lately?

Sounds like depression symptoms... I agree with Rohag, go see a doctor to check what's going on with you.

Rohag and Lika have a great point arundelle. There are a surprisingly large number of purely medical or nutritional issues that can case what you're experiencing. Here are some suggestions of things to check for:

I had my blood work done last month and everything was normal but my thyroid was a little high, but not enough to worry my doctor.

Thanks for the tips!

Hi Arundelle... Most physicians do not perform the correct Thyroid tests to diagnose Hypothyroid which can be a huge factor in depression. I had your symptoms for years and the doc's kept telling me my thyroid was "fine" despite having a slightly elevated TSH test. Usually doc's will routinely do a T3 uptake and T4 by RIA. Some will do a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). I finally went to an Endocrinologist who took one look at me and stated, "oh, you have Hashimoto's." He did a T3 by RIA, Free T4 and TSH (which was above 4.2) Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is an immune disorder that can not only cause depression but a host of other disorders. Because it had gone on undetected for years due to several doc's not doing the right tests, I also developed osteoporosis, malnutrition, celiac disease and GI disorders. I had told all the other doc's my symptoms which are similar to yours yet none of them treated me correctly. Be a good advocate for yourself and keep demanding the physicians find out what is causing your debilitating symptoms. Yes, you may only be suffering from depression but there are so many other differential diagnosis's that can explain many of the symptoms you describe... I hope you find a good treatment to improve how you feel.

hi Friend

talk to a psychologist. they can help you identify what is bothering you and guide you accordingly. Don't let it get into a full blown depression.

ALWAYS tired. I wake up tired. I sit around tire, I go to bed tired, I go to work tired. It never seems to get better.

BUT..... (stealing from Churchill) If you are going through hell; keep going.

Fight on brother, fight on.
