It seems like every time I have a good thing coming to me something bad always happens. Right now I am planning on moving, which should make me happy, but
Possible trigger:
If I tell someone though they won't understand because no one ever does. I just don't know what to do anymore

Hi Friend

It seems your mind is conditioned to expect something bad when something good happens. when such things happen then you will be scared if anything good happens as you afraid something bad is going to follow. People can't understand such things as it sounds voodoo for them. We people at this forum understand as we have ourselves gone thru it. please go to a psychologist who will listen to your problems and give you techniques to overcome this. if that doesn't help you can go to psychiatrist who can prescribe anti-depressants. if you want self-help there is tons of resources like yoga, meditation, relaxation techniques.

Hello & Welcome, Jman197.

You already know this: depression tosses the expected and the usual and the "should" of feelings out the window.

Have you developed techniques to keep yourself safe despite the thoughts?

I have no magical cure for you. I just hope that you find someone that you can trust. Someone you can confide in.

You will need to TRY trusting others, instead of assuming how they will react. There are good souls out there. A brother, sister, significant other, friend, pastor or even a parent.

Best wishes.

Tell us about the move.

There may be moments when you're excited about it, but I know how it is. When you've been depressed for a long time, you expect bad things to happen, and this expectation is often correct. Bad things do happen to depressed people.

For not knowing what to do, I have a suggestion. Read these notes and see if it makes sense to you.

Just understanding WHY you feel the way you do can make you feel much less helpless. There is a suggestion of what to do in the notes and here is what I think is the best overall plan

Something to do right away is just go for a nice long walk or do whatever kind of exercise you like.

Where are you moving to?
