Are depression and anxiety legit reasons for getting on disability. I've been being seen for these issues since 1999. I've had 4 s*****e attempts that have been documented, Although there are actually a lot more. It has been very hard to stay working. I usually don't get fired, I just end up getting depressed and tired of the added anxiety it causes and quite. Not to mention the problems with focusing, remembering things etc. I sometimes feel like I need disability and have a chance. Other times I feel like I'm just being an undisciplined baby and think it's all just wishful thinking. I've applied once before and was denied. Any thoughts?

I wonder if you can be eligible for disability based on depression and anxiety. I think you definitely would have a well documented case of your illness. I am wondering about this myself as I think depression, anxiety, and inability to focus and concentrate may have contributed to me failing at and losing my last job.

Someone told me long ago that the first time you apply for disability you are automatically denied. You may need help from your pdoc and an attorney. By the way, you are not an undisciplined baby. You are a decent person suffering from an illness called depression. Lots of love and best wishes.

Thank you so much for understanding. I hope in me asking this question we will get some answers/advice for both of us. And yes I was denied and appealed but had to go back to work because I needed money. Now it is 3 years later and I applied again. This time I do plan on getting an attorney.

It is definitely a legitimate reason. I've been trying to apply for similar reasons, but was denied twice. You just have to keep at it. Also, I recommend getting help from a social worker rather than an attorney because when I tried one, it just lengthened the process.
