I've seen the LPC, counselor for a fifth time now. The fourth time she mentioned medication, randomly but didn't think I need it so I think she said? Now a fifth time she thinks I need it. I never mentioned anything about medication to her. I thought one was supposed to go more than 5 times before resorting to medication? Usually she would make an appointment a week later exactly..or even later because I had just been. However, she was very quick to reschedule and only 5 days apart? I don't really know what to think about this. I just know that thinking you yourself need medication, and then a professional someone telling you that you do..is two different things. I was a bit offended in all honestly. 😕

Sometimes if they don't see improvements as fast as they want they recommend medicine and therapy so the combination can help kick depressions butt if its stubborn.
Thanks for this!

I see. I've only ever told her about the issues I've had. How I felt a littler..every time has differed a lot. She said " I don't want you to be moping around..like a zombie. I want you to be you, or more like you." I just done really know. thanks for your input and taking time to reply!

Sometimes the things we say may not seem like a big deal to us when were depressed but to them its a huge deal and that makes them want to give medicine more too. I noticed this with my friend and myself.
Thanks for this!

I was given medication on my first visit to a pdoc. I was shocked but took it anyway. It made such a difference that my doubts didn't last long. I've been on medications ever since.

I've never heard of the "five times before resorting to meds" rule. Lots of Ts will suggest seeing a pdoc and getting on meds the first time if they think you need it.

If you don't think you need meds, I think you should tell her so and stick to your guns if need be. At the same time, I don't see any reason to be offended. Lots of people with depression need meds. It doesn't mean they are deficient in any way. She is probably suggesting something she thinks might be helpful. If you don't agree, you have every right to say no.
