My cousin has been going through a lot of stuff, and the doctor diagnosed him with depression and anxiety. He doesn't want to take any pills to help him, so he was thinking of using medical marijuana because of an article he read saying marijuana helps depression
Is it a good idea? Are there bad side affects to him using it? What are some experiences you had with it?

I was just asking this same thing yesterday! Thank you for posting something asking this too! I've been dealing with both depression and anxiety and was thinking about that path too. I don't know much about if it's a good or bad idea(hence why I asked about it on my last post) but I can tell u from experience it helped me a few times. It helped me calm down, helped me sleep amazing, and helped me not feel awful about myself and not as sad. I do know though that there are many different strains(although there are main 3, indica, Sativa, and hybrid) but I'm not familiar with which help with which but I hope it all works out with your cousin and I hope he gets on track towards feeling better and having a happier lifeExperiences with marijuana?

I've had some success with using it for stress and anxiety. Strains high in CBD are often rec'd for this. CBD is one of the more powerful and medicinal of the many cannabinoids found in the plant. THC is another well known one. CBD is usually not psychoactive or only slightly. THC is psychoactive

There is a particular strain called "ACDC" that I have used for this, which has a ratio that is low THC/high CBD. And so there is no real "high" at least for me.

You can vaporize instead of smoking it. Better for the lungs and in general apparently. If you go this route, it's important to find a good local collective or club with products that have been tested for mold, pesticides, etc. A good place will also give advice on what strains are good for what conditions.

Depression would require potentially different strains or products.

ANother option is CBD oil, which is an extract and no a whole plant product. THere is also FECO, which is an extract of the whole plant.

Lot of info out there, lot of it confusing. Takes time to learn. Maybe find a FB group where u can ask questions.
Thanks for this!

Hi Jessie

I'm sorry that your cousin has depression and anxiety. I have no experience with medical marijuana. You could check it out on the Google for side effects. Perhaps your cousin should check this out with the Dr. first. There are also good medications for this. Take care. I hope and pray you have a really great day. God bless and best wishes from your friend Francis

I would wager that most mainstream docs are not gonna know much or anything about cannabis. That has been my experience.

Also, my view is that the more we can find effective means for self-care, and avoid doctors, the better.

BTW, I dont understand why you threw the medications statement into a thread about cannabis.
