Well ok. I use the term "remedy" lightly. I mean things other than prescription drugs/therapy that can be used to effectively combat depression.
Exercise, obviously. If anyone has a specific thing that they do, i.e. iron supplements for an iron deficiency or something of that sort, I'd like you to tell me what they are. I've heard some talk about St. John's Wort, but I have no idea what that is, how to get it, or what it does, so if anyone can explain that I'd be much obliged. I've had pretty bad depression for almost a year now and I can't even think about therapy or prescription medicine for at least another year. Instead of lying down and taking it, I think I may be ready to fight this myself. At least fight it enough to hold on for that extra year. Thank you in advance for any replies.

St John's wort is available at most health food stores and large stores with a supplement department. It can be used in some cases for depression though I would check with your doctor. It also can cause sun sensitivity and interfere with birth control pills (making them much less effective if not effective at all).

st johns wort has some real power to effect other medications as I'm been told . So run it by your care giver , its not harmless. I thought about trying it but ruled it out because of other medications . If I did try it i would tell my doctor first . You can buy it over the counter almost anywhere or online.
You might want to try b12 supplement under the tongue available over the counter in most pharmacies. You need to get a blood test for b12 and low iron , you can get in trouble with too much iron . Too much Iron can kill young children . I was being watched for both on quarterly blood tests I could not give blood for awhile as my tests were coming back as anemic . Most blood banks will not take your blood if its low in iron . Hope you are feeling better . Time and Exercise are the best . |
