This is really going to make me sounds ridiculous, but when I'm having a bad day and I have to work or do things that involve dealing with people, I sometimes pretend that I'm making a TV programme and don't want to come across as someone horrible so I have to be nice.

Do any of you do things that you probably wouldn't admit to anyone but it gets you through the day? I'd be interested in seeing if anyone did anything I could try?

Sometimes I divert my mind from stressful thoughts to future and simple plans ( for example I plan to make myself a nice and sophisticated dinner )

When people overwhelm me, which is not a hard thing to do, I shut myself up. I don't talk anymore or even interact, until I recharge my energy.

Think about random, funny things.

Eat.

Play computer games.

Watch Youtube.

When my mind starts racing onto negative thoughts I just silently yell "STOP!" If I'm alone I'll do it out loud. Often it does get the racing to stop if only for a while.

If I'm on a crying jag I may play some emotional music or watch a movie that makes it feel "right" to be crying.

Absolutely. I imagine and fantasize about people I meet and work with, in strange situations like those that are embarrassing. And then I imagine that I need to help them feel unembarassed.

When I'm in a situation that's causing me to feel overwhelmed or panicky I try & distract myself in some way. Music works for me. I dig out my earphones and hit the 'random' button - the not knowing what's coming next seems to make my mind concentrate on the music rather than whatever is causing the distress.

being random is fun!

once i tried to think about funny songs i could sing about every day activities- brushing teeth, eating, drinking, and it led me to come up with all sorts of random stuff in my mind..

i do it more often now. coming up with random funny images sure helps.

for me music helps. music is my life

coming on here

binge eating

harming sometimes

i also tend to watch something i shouldn't... like if i'm feeling really empty and void of emotion, i often watch something that i know triggers me to make me feel something (and i'm sure i'm not the only person that does that)
