I am weaning off of one set of meds before starting a new set. But I have noticed that as I am weaning off the old ones I am starting to feel better. I am a little worried to start the new ones now.

I had a similar experience when I was weaning myself off one set of meds. That is why I am not on meds today. If I was you, I would not be so quick to start a new set of meds if you are actually feeling better. You could always go back on the meds if you start feeling ****** again. I would not recommend that you completely stop the meds if your version of "feeling ******" is something like ending up on the top floor of a parking garage contemplating jumping off.

I too feel euphoria when going off meds. Be careful because you may crash big time. I always do.
It's almost a reverse placebo effect. Subconsciously you convince yourself the meds aren't working and you'll feel better without them. You start weaning and magically you feel better. Self filling prophecy. Eventually brain chemistry catches up. Splat. |

Sometimes the side effects of some of the older meds can slow your thinking and make you feel unwell generally, but if they really help, then it's worth the side effects. Other meds might not have the same side effects. If you feel that you're really better without them , discuss it with the doc, hopefully they know you well enough to help you interpret what's going on and the risks and benefits of both options. Maybe you can come to a decision between you, or have a plan ready in case going with no meds is not as good as you hoped. Most of the doctors I know would rather you could be well without meds, but it's the main tool they have, so asking them a few questions might be enlightening and may make them think outside that box too. Good luck and I hope you find the best plan for you. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
