I am slipping back into the abyss... not happy about it. I am starting to drink a glass of wine each night to help me sleep. I know this isn't smart, but I rationalize by saying to myself that it's just one glass.
I'm still just feeling numb inside. I just feel nothing. just long to sleep for at least 9 hours at a stretch. I am avoiding people as much as possible and trying to stay focused while at work, but it's hard.
I am still waiting for my 12 step program to start , but meanwhile i'm tired of living in this limbo hell.

Hi guiltier. I am not worried so much about one glass of wine is that you feel so guilty doing that. Is your 12 step program about alcohol. That would be a big conflict of interest.

Natural herbs like Peppermint or Chamomile tea can help. No caffeine later in the day.

Ever considered any meds to help you sleep?

I was on Trazodone for a while, but my dr. took me off of it.
I have been labelled a binge drinker, so the wine is a problem. But I can't seem to stop. I am hoping that my program will start in the next week or so, maybe that will help with the accountability. I just don't know.

I found camomile tea a great sleep aid and my sister and Mum use it every night. They drink it strong though when for medicinal reasons so if one teabag of it doesn't work, try 2 or 3 and see. Sweeten it if necessary and call it medicine, it doesn't matter if you like it , if it works, and the taste grows on you.

Best of luck and wishing you strength for the 12 step program.

Good idea Fizzyo! I use peppermint also to relax and unwind instead of alcohol.

I used to drink a lot of alcohol to try and lift me or numb me enough to sleep but eventually I realised it wasn't going to work. I've only had 1 drink socially since Christmas and I feel better for it. Sleep still evades me most nights but at least I don't feel any worse in the morning. You'll find something that works for you to help you relax. I'm still hopeful I'll find mine!
