1. How would I get depression and anxiety meds? My pych is joke- my mom thinks it's "normal" to feel like this and she's literally bipolar I think Bc literally everything is fitting her in those genes.
2. I want/need to be homeschooled but my mom is pretty persistant "I'll regret it" "no" "she's usually not home so I can't" and more blah blah blahs Any suggestions?? |

Meds: My understanding is that antidepressants require especially careful monitoring when used by adolescents - see this PC article for discussion. If a medical professional diagnoses you with depression and/or anxiety, it is possible a psychiatrist would be more likely to prescribe medications than a primary care physician.
Schooling: If your parents are not up to the demands of homeschooling, a number of other distance-learning or alternative programs may still be open to you. Search for "alternative education," "distance learning" (middle/high school) and "online school."

First, and I mean this with all due respect, please don't try to diagnose someone else.
Second, I suggest that you present her with the facts of being homeschooled rather than just get into an argument about it. As Rohag said, there are alternative programs but you need to have the information in hand if you want to present an effective argument. If you currently at school, can you go to a councilor there who can talk to both you (and eventually) your mom to give you advice on seeing an MD for help? I'm sorry it's so difficult to be heard when you are a minor. I hope someone else has some better ideas than mine... |
