Why are these mutually exclusive????

They don't have to be.

This black-or-white question is rooted in a falsely constructed paradigm. Falling into the trap of jumping to "happy" while sacrificing "right" is indicative of lazy or weak intellect and/or self-centeredness. Who the heck doesn't want to be happy? But, how can one be if "wrong?"

No one ever said doing the right thing and living with integrity and [hopefully] affecting positive change is easy. That's why many people don't. And that's why the rest of us generally need professional support. IMO.

What do we mean by right? I tend to think I need to be "right" to be happy...

Liked this question (if it means what I think it means): I think that a wife knows her husband well, and when she asks it, she is perhaps saying: "Is it most important for you to have your own ideas validated (on the cost of not getting better from your depression if that is what it costs) or are you willing to try methods that might work, but that not lie inside of your own frame of reasoning?

I might be wrong of course. I only present one guess out of many possibilities.

Do you think I may be right?

I have lost too much and too many by sticking to my 'rightness'. I bite my lip now - often until it bleeds but I am a whole lot happier.

i cant say alot about this... because it seems to me like i can't be right and be happy so... but i have this random quote i found from google -

"People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. Thats how they define "reality". But what does it mean to be "correct" or "true"? Merely vague concepts.. Their "Reality" may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world shaped by their belief?"
rissilla

but whats right for me maybe isnt right for others... life is not fair
