One of the 2 companies I thought might offer me a position did. The one of the 2 that I wanted to.

The power of good vibes/prayer/energy/thoughts/feelings? Dunno.

Here's the interesting thing. My instantaneous reaction when I got the call? Elation? Relief? Pride?

No, no, and no.

I felt terror, nausea, and dread. My first thought was, "I hope that I don't f- this up somehow."

I would like someone to revoke my grown-up card please. I am tired of being jaded, suspicious, scared and way shaky. It suxx.

Congratulations Lavender. I think feelings arising from fear and second thoughts are normal for many people and depression amps them up. The company that is hiring you sees your value to them so I'm sure you will do well. I'll continue to keep you in my thoughts and to send good vibes your way!

Congratulations! Your self-worth has been re-inforced by this recognition and you will realise this when you calm down. It is the Depression and Anxiety that feeds the negative emotions, but you have done the hardest part in sailing through a high-pressure interview. There is a likelihood you will feel some of this until you start work, but then you will be so busy learning routine and systems that it will all melt away.

Dave.

you are a grown up...but do try to live in the moment like a kid, they don't think ahead and that's where we get screwed up.

Well done. Getting a new job, one that I wanted, was a big part of my recovery. I still have wobbles where my confidence is non-existent but so do most people. I hope this is the fresh start you need.
Thanks for this!

OceanSwimmer – Thanks – I will take all the good vibes that you can spare and the love, too. (My favorite place to be on earth is near the ocean, btw.)

Dave – Bolded part: so true! Thank you. You always have thoughtful, kind and supportive words for people. I can’t begin to tell you how appreciative I am of you. You rock. I especially take heart with regard to the last sentence that you wrote.

Nammu – Thanks. The bolded part: my tattoo if I weren’t such a scaredy-baby of needles.

Elevatedsoul – many thanks and hugs to you buddy. The recruiter began the offer phone call to me by saying “Well, they love you. They both (I met with 2 different people) couldn’t say enough great things about you.”
Thanks for this!

That is AWESOME! Try to remember that when you are feeling insecure, try not to worry about it too much beforehand, and try to keep their confidence in you in your mind and let it give you confidence when you start your first day!
