I have a first time appointment with a new therapist coming up soon. In the past, the few therapists I have seen haven't been helpful with my issues. I am looking for someone to discuss my relationship issues with and to give me their input/advice. I have learned to try to be content with who I am in general except for the social aspects. I have learned to accept my differences and faults. I have no interest in taking medication and/ or changing who I am. I really just need someone to talk to. Since I don't have a close friend I thought a therapist might be an option. What are your thoughts/ experiences?

Yes a counselor is wonderful to talk to. They basically lay things out in front of you in a way so you can see which way to go for the present the results of one choice over another. They have the knack of showing us a new way of thinking logically how to approach and conclude the solving of our problems. I am all for it, sounds like you are going in the right direction.. tc

I find my therapist very helpful, and I too do not really have any close friends to talk to. So go for it.

A T can act as a great mirror for holding up the reflection to you so you can truly see what's going on.
And I think it's important to be honest with your T from the get go about what you want out of the relationship with her. Seesaw |
