I saw several old people in my condo that made me worry about getting old. I am really worried how will I cope with being old in 70s. I hate to use a walker or a cane

I worry about it. I remember watching my grandmother and my parents wither away and I don't like the thoughts. I'm in my middle 60s and know that it is close for me. I kinda hope I don't live that long, but probably will. There is longevity in my family.

I think about it when I help my mom with walking, cooking etc. She says she's sorry that I have to do this and I say I love you and want to be here for you. But I'm thinking...who in the he'll is going to help me?? No one. Then suicide pops back into my mind.

Getting old scares the crap out of me. I just turned 65. My parents both died of cancer in their early 70s, so I may not have much time left. Some days that depresses me. Other days I'm thankful for my oncogenes.

I am practically there now. I'm almost 60, yet I feel and look young. Though I have had some personal and health issues lately. I got a minor skin cancer at 50. Before that I had practically been perfect with my health. But now it seems like it's going downhill and more problems. I have an achy shoulder and arm that I have been dealing with for a month-and-a-half. Also I will be having to take medication (a shot) from the time I had prostate cancer surgery that I had a year-and-a-half ago.

I don't like getting older at all as of now. New health issues (where there was non not so long ago and for a good long time!). Plus it seems like people are harder for me to get along with. I also feel grumpier than I used to. At the condo complex I live at, there does not seem to be many around my age and older. And hardly anyone is single and alone like I am. So that makes me feel very out of place.

Things of lately seem to be going on a downward spiral for me; including health, personal relationships, and finances. If the trend continues, well I don't know! Sorry to be so down.

Yes I think about it. Once a month our church visits a nursing time. We see about 40 patients. Some are in terrible shape. Then there are those that just can't live alone . It's sad but also rewarding because they are so lonely. It's hard to smile and laugh with them when all you want to do is cry.

I'm 53 and I worry constantly about getting old. Mostly, I worry that my psych meds will stop working or I'll have health problems that prevent me from taking the meds that help me not to be as depressed and anxious.

I don't really think about getting old.

I don't have thoughts like, 1 day my hearing will start to go, or 1 day i'll be in a nursing home, that kind of thing.

I do think about death and dying though quite a bit, what will happen to me and my body, my stuff, that sort of thing- and I have had thoughts about funerals (though i've now decided that i'm not going to have a funeral, I don't want 1)
