Hello, I'm new here and feel extremely depressed and anxiety is increasing as well. I've isolated myself and basically have like zero family support and no one to talk to. I'm not sleeping and seems to be getting worst. I not sure what to do. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Hello j2073: This appears to be your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit. I don't know as I have much of anything to offer by way of suggestions. From my perspective, the basic suggestion would be to make arrangements to begin seeing a mental health therapist. Hopefully being here on PC can also be of some comfort & support. As you continue posting, I'm sure other members will have suggestions & insights to offer.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. There are many knowledgeable & caring members here. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!

Insomnia makes everything worse. Dealing with it is a priority no matter what else is going on.

Do your circumstances allow you to see a medical doctor?

Please make yourself at home here.

Hi there, welcome to Psych Central. I think you'll find a lot of comfort here as many of us realize that you're going through a hard time and can relate. My suggestion/advice for you is to (if you are comfortable with this) searching for a therapist in your area. Therapy is extremely beneficial for many people. Have you tried it yet? Again, welcome, and I hope you can find a lot of comfort here.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the responses and warm welcomes. Yes, I've line up an appointment with a therapist this week. I just hope I can hold on that long. Not functioning too well and really need to get back to work to pay bills etc...Think I'll take a benadryl or two hopefully that will calm me down and allow me to sleep.

That's a great start. Until then, keep yourself busy with simple/easily accomplished sort of stuff. Do a few push ups or some form of exercise when you're anxiety's up. It will get the energy out and release natural something that's like a natural anti-depressant, at the same time. It helps me some.
Writing here tends to help me out, as well. Hopefully it has the same affect on you.

Welcome to PC.
Thanks for this!
