I had a breakdown in July, started citalopram 20mg , no good after 8 weeks . mirtazapine 15mg start and the shrink added 50mg sertraline , which was weird has i was on sertraline when i crashed , no joy there. i have a 6mg lorazepam tollerance a day i have had for 35 years , the bad old days when they gave them out like sweets , i am stuck for life with the 6 they don't bother me , but the adding of 50mg sertraline to my 30mg mirtazapine dose did. so i rang the shrink . I said why am i on a med that failed me, i have bounced from sertraline to escitalopram for year and know they have given up on me. What he said terrified me he said i gave it to work with the mirtazapine WWWWWWWhhhat why pic that and not another ssri . like Paxil. he then said thisALL SSRIS ARE NEAR ON THE SAME, YOU DONT SAY THAT TO A TERRIFIED PATIENT if you want to combo, paxil and mirtazapine are well known , anxiety killer . Paxil kills the anxiety and Mirt helps but also make sure you get some well-earned sleep , surely sertraline will ramp my anxiety up. Any answer to this do you think i should ditch the sertraline on my own , the doc says 4 more weeks but i am wasted to the max

I'm sorry you are having such a rough time and that your psychiatrist isn't listening to you. I hope you get the change you need soon.

I don't like Paxil and the rest. Got a new Pdoc and gave me Zoloft. Luckily the dose was low.
Did nothing. But I didn't know it's in the same class.
These damn pdocs don't pay attention.
For me, it's like taking an anxiety pill.
I need something new. While investigators here are helping more than the Pdoc.
I think I'll try Topamax.
Thank goodness for the internet. Pdoc expect us to do our own research!

I say you tell that quack that you aren't going to take it. You pay him and if he does listen to your concerns, screw him. Don't just stop but scale back if you don't want to take the drug. I also suggest looking for a different doc. This guy sounds like a prick.

In England when over 65 you go on care in the community , there is no mental hospital over 65 you get a community shrink and nurse visits , the nurse is great but her hands are tied with the meds , she reports back to him , you never see him, he phones if you're lucky
