Feeling left out

I am not the type of person people like 'hanging out' with. It's christmas time, and everyone's planning to go somewhere or do something, but I'm not invited and I don't feature in their plans. While I'm not really 'upset', I feel like I'm the kind of friend that's only needed when someone needs help or advice, in other words, Ia am the friend to go to for serious stuff that matters. I feel good about being a 'reliable', true friend type of person, but I do feel left out when I hear stories about how my friends have fun together and bond with each other and stuff. I gotta admit though I don't particularly enjoy hanging out with people either, but I'd appreciate an invite or something.

I don't really know what I want, I'm just rambling here. Anyone else feel that way?

I do relate to you. And you know, there generally are two types of friends: Ones that hang out and be the life of the party, and ones that are the opposite of that who are described as true friends in need. You, my friend, are that true friend You're not being used, I think. It's just that you are the king of listeners, you're the one that people feel good because of, you are the one that has been seen as an authentic real friend Which only means one thing, you're certainly not the first type of friend, which is why you don't get invited to parties, which doesn't mean you're not loved or appreciated, it's just that you've been acknowledged as a person who doesn't like to be invited to parties. But I understand. Generally, and based on perspective, a drop of appreciation is good to keep us going in life

I myself don't like horror movies, and I've been clear to my family about that. So, when they go to a horror movie without me being invited, that should only be tied to the truthful fact that is my hatred of that genre. But, I do get invited to do other things (in your case, being invited as the true friend that you are ), though not for horror movies since I'm not that kind of guy. So, I do believe you're quite loved by people, and you're surely not under usage at all In other words, take the fact that you being called out to listen and help as the true appreciation you're looking for, because that only means you're being acknowledged and accepted for being yourself! They wouldn't call you out for that because they don't like you or don't appreciate you, right?

I totally get where you're coming from. Honestly though, i would rather be that authentic, genuine friend who has you're back and can keep you're secrets safe. Not many have the [patience to listen and HEAR what the other is saying. ( but have honest intentions)
