*Trigger Warning*
Let me start off by saying I will be talking about suicide. No I'm not looking for ideas on how to do it but I will be discussing suicide. So over & over I have been asked do I have a plan to kill myself. It may seem dumb but what counts as a plan? I mean in times past I thought of a very detailed way I was going to kill myself. I even had it planned out as to who would find my body. Once you think of something like that you don't forget it. Is this still considered a plan? Other times I have sat down and started thinking about ways to kill myself. I can always think of ways to kill myself. So does that mean I always, & will always have a plan? So to me the more you break down the question "Do you have a plan? the more complicated it gets.

I don't know. I always interpreted that question as more of, "Do you have a plan that you're willing to carry out as soon as opportunity arises to do so?"
I could be wrong. Very wrong at that, but that's what I've always used to decide whether to say yes or no.

Sorry if this is a dup post. My pc glitched.
In the psych world "having a plan" means you've researched ways of killing yourself and decided on one particular method. You have the materials you need and have the place picked out. You've got the details planned and you've written a note or at least know what you want to say when you do write on. It means you've made a conscious decision on this course of action and you're just waiting for the right time. So if you're just remembering an old plan, that's one thing. If you're committed to this course of action and it's only a matter of choosing the time to implement, that's having a plan That said, I hope you're just remembering and that you don't actually have a plan Humpty Dumpty |

Think of it as your in a building that's on fire. Well you can jump out of the window, but that's a 2 story fall. You can leave the room/area you are in, but it's difficult to see. Do I go left, do I go right? Where is the fire? It's so hot. You can't tell where the fire is. The more you think about it the harder the decision becomes. So you do nothing.

it's hard when you're thinking like that. I have had plans in the past, and I have acted on them.
Possible trigger:
I have even been on suicide watch by mistake, when people have thought I had a plan but actually I didn't (((((hugs))))) |
