I think I may have depression but I'd like to get a little feedback before I take the time to see a doctor about it. Basically, since I was a really young man, maybe since 12-13, I have been unhappy but had no reason to be unhappy. Since that age up to now I, occasionally, feel like just giving up. It's the type of sadness that is bigger then just the blues. It's paralyzing. Since that young age to now I've had a constant sad feeling but occassionally, maybe two times a year, I have really bad episodes of sadness. It's so bad I don't want to get out of bed. I barely talk to people if I talk at all. At those times I just don't see the point I'm so upset nothing seems woth dealing with. Usually I could work around my sadness and pretend like nothing was wrong but not during these intense episodes. It feels like I can barely breath at these times.
So, should I see a doctor? |

Yes, you probably should see a doctor. I can't diagnose you, of course, but it does sound like you are suffering from depression. I hope you feel better soon

hey wakeboarder, sometimes feelings like you've described are the result of a void in your life. Before I would go to a doc I would take a good hard look at my life and try to isolate my "source of sadness" already done that? do it again...ultimately you have to take responsibility for your healing,I know this is'nt a popular idea but its the best advice i can give you. need more help? im me

Yes, it sounds and smells like depression. It is the typical pattern.
It is recommended to see a psychiatrist, an early treatment would have great chances of success. It seems to me that you are young... |

I would see a doctor. "No obvious source" depression seems to be fairly common around these parts. After years of trying to find the source of my depression without success, I decided to attribute it to unlucky genes. |
