Just really doing poorly today. Have texted crisis line and come up with a safety plan. Just feeling really low right now and hopeless.

I'm very sorry to hear that you are struggling.

It sounds like you have taken some positive steps by texting crisis and coming up with a safety plan. It is good that you are aware of how you feel and taking constructive actions to deal with it. Hang in there, it does get better!

Hope you get better soon. You deserve it! Good job on reaching out and texting. It'll get better just remember that.

Hi there, Jennifer and coolbeans82, you have us. Write in, say what you must. Share, don't share. Put on a tantrum. Whatever. It's OK. We're here for you. You're safe here. Every moment you hang on, you're growing stronger.

I've been inspecting my own depression and there are lots of things I do that make it worse:
Blame - I blame myself and I blame others.
Anger - I get angry that it's happening to me and that I can't seem to deal with it
Frustration - because I can't seem to make it go away
Fear - I am actually afraid of the next time it might happen again
Disgust - how can people be so mean
Anxiety - I worry and worry and worry
Tension - I can sleep, my stomach is in a knot
Sad - I feel so alone, that no one cares

And every one of these thoughts make it worse. So, I'm trying to calm myself down and focus only on the moment. When I do that, it's not so bad. I can just stay in the present and let time pass by. I try to distract my thoughts too. I mean, it's alright to feel bad, but I don't want to make it worse than it already is. I like 50s and 60s music. They're so innocent and cheerful. Like the Beatles. And maybe have a Smartie. Read a book. Watch a movie. Have a cup of tea. Anything.

(((((Jennifer)))))

I'm not sure I have much in the way of support, but I do hope you will feel better soon. You are so supportive here, thank you for still trying to reach out to me even when I keep shutting you down. I appreciate it even if it may seem like I don't.

Jennifer--
I hope you are feeling better this morning. Sometimes I do after a good sleep. When I am depressed, I am drawn to depressing music such as some of Pink Floyd's stuff--it makes it worse. Here is a cheerful song:

The Bangles - Hazy Shade of Winter

"...Hang on to your hopes, my friend
That's an easy thing to say
But if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend that you can build them again...."

Hi Jennifer and Coolbeans, sometimes the feelings of helplessness are overwhelming and we just feel like running away and giving up. I am lucky enough to have a good friend to whom I can talk and I find that that helps.
We are here and listening. Can you perhaps try andifferent tell us more? You are not on your own. We are one click away.

I saw my pdoc today. He took me off a medication (I was sleeping 2-3 hours a night) and said that besides the underlying depression I have 'situational ' depressions that push me close to the edge. Hhhhmmm. I feel traumatized today from coming so close and am having panic attacks.

I will be ok. I'm headed to Florida Saturday and I plan to relax. I really, really appreciate your support. It meant so much to me.
