I feel like I just can't function normally. I sometimes think it's like I missed out on some important bit of information about living an adult life that I never got. But everyone around me seems to have gotten it. Anyone else feel like that?
Now it's weekend again... It's the worst part of the week for me. Don't know why really because I don't do anything differently. I think it's the feeling of people being happy, maybe throwing a party etc. that gets to me because I feel so out of it. In the weekdays it's much better for me. I just was out to get groceries. I thought I wouldn't eat today. I hope all of you are doing good.

I know what you mean, Mat. The weekends are the hardest. I think you're right about the obligation to feel happy and have a good time. It's hard to take, and makes me feel a lot worse.
I sincerely hope you find some comfort this weekend. |

I dislike the weekends as well. The pool where I float (which is about the only thing that makes me feel better) is packed on the weekends and I like to be alone so I go down there at 7 am Mon-Fri. There's also less people out during the day Mon-Fri and I like that. Sending big hugs.

For a long time in my life and up to now, I've always had feelings of inadequacy. It's like almost everyone else has it together except for me. I heard on the radio one time that practically everyone feels like they are the only screwed up people on this planet. But it's not true that we are the only screwed up people there is.
I've felt that the best social life I have going for me is at work. This morning I got some very nice feedback from others regarding the company change. They were saying that they hope that I would stay on. It seems like the nice things that people say to me at work never happens at home and at church. I think that there are a lot of people feel that their only good social life happens at work only. For a good while I have felt bad when the weekend comes. Lately, I feel like I've gotten over it. I've been acclimated in my lot in life because it's been that way for so long. It's a good feeling for me, but it would be nice to not feel so alone at times. The worst time for me is late Saturday afternoon and on Sundays. I keep myself busy during the alone times and that helps. I will not give you any suggestions or advice as to what you can do. I find those things irritating. I have done the things that were suggested to me and they didn't work. In fact, it made me feel worse than if I didn't do those things at all and wondered. |

From our earliest years people are conditioned to see the weekend as R & R time ,and many people are having fun , I have however noticed that weekends can be unsettling for two reasons 1. is the almost universal lack of support services on weekends even if you don't use them or need them per say , having them available tends to make people "calmer" and 2. Your not having a good time during the week let alone on weekends when people are traditionaly more social .
The other thing that I see is in many cases weekends cause family and friends to want to engage more with depressed people ( who in many cases don't want the interaction) same thing applies to holidays it just drives the depression into you deeper , but unless a person has dealt with deppresion they dont understand the disconnect caused by pressuring people "to feel better" or " lighten up" ,because it's not that easy . |

Just another voice to say the weekends are hard for me as well! I've never been too terribly social, but being in a new city, forget about it, I've got no one to call! Hang in there.

I live in a big city too. Despite all the people it only makes me feel more alone. Sometimes I wish I lived out in nature with only nature sounds around.
