Do you have days when you know exactly what to do, but still cannot do what you know you must do? Well, I have them sometimes and I want to make this thread for all of us who need such a thread (now and then).

Let me try to explain: For the moment I have finished an early breakfast. I know that according to my daily plan I should go outside for physical exercise (jogging or something else). I know that physical exercises is good for my depression. Still I sit here and are not going outside.

This is a typical example of knowing what to do, but not feeling able. I think that for me (and I hope for many others as well) a start to be able is to say what I'm going to do: "I'm going for a short walk". You will hear from me when it is done".

I hope you understand what I mean. If you too have a problem to start something (exercises, writing, eating, go to the groceries or else), write it down here (the reward is to be able to tell us here at PC that you made it in spite of feeling low in motivation). In other words: Simple behavior therapy.

I hear you. This weekend I didn't exercise or meditate at all even though I knew it would be good for me, I just felt so unmotivated to move. I think the weather is definitely having an impact...dark skies and hardly any sun. Managed to force myself to workout this morning but it was TOUGH!

To anyone else going through depression or whatever struggle, hang in there. Take things one day at a time and focus on the things you DO get done, rather than those you didn't.

Agree! Its always wise to focus on what one is able to do and not on the things one cannot do. We have to choose! My kitchen looks as if it is pigs who live there. I could have decided to do both the exercise and the kitchen. I chose the walk outside only.

I don't mean this thread to be a "I'm not good enough"- thread, but a chance to find the motivation to do the little you can manage. It's not a report thread that we must use, but a thread to use when we feel that we need the extra feedback, the reward, to have the chance to tell the others here that we are going to do something that is hard for us to do and then share the experience, and perhaps happiness, of "I MADE IT".

Got home from an 8 hour shift and just wanted to sit, but I made myself get up and do a workout because I knew it would make me feel better. I never regret exercise.

Here I am again! I don't like to use this thread and to admit that I'm almost out of motivation, but so it is. I have problems going to the grocery and the post office. What can I do about it? I will allow myself to play an online game. When that is finished I will jump out of my chair and do what I have to do.

I have this problem a lot. It affects me in taking care of myself. I know to be healthy I should cook my meals. But I tend to gravitate toward what I can microwave. Today I want to cook something healthy. I will try.

I have moved around a little bit while taking in the clothes. It started to rain It's the weather that affects me. I did go for a walk for at least half an hour this week.

I have set this day apart to bring some order in my clutter. I don't feel motivated. It is so good that you folks are here! To have the chance to tall that I have work to do and don't feel motivated is motivating in itself.

I have done it! It feels so good! (After this things will become more easy for me, at least I hope so. To have a de-cluttered home means a lot for the health, psychological and physiological).
Thanks for this!

Oh, I missed this thread. I like this!

I have problems going to the store too. On top of low motivation, I don’t like to go alone. It’s an anxiety problem I’ve developed in recent years. I’ve been managing it by stopping on my way home, and listening to talking on the radio to keep from feeling alone.

Sometimes I post while I’m out to keep from feeling alone.

Sometimes I just sit in the car, unable to get out.

Thanks for this thread. I’ll try it.
