Hi guys, I need some suggestions and/or advice.
My current schooling situation means I will be attending for only one hour (8:40 AM - 9:40 AM) every Monday - Thursday from now until June. I'm having spells of intense depression around 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM. I've adjusted my medication schedule, and it's helping somewhat, but I need something to keep me busy. Seasonal depression has added on to my normal depression has well, lucky me. I have pets that I care for, I draw, play video games, and read. I like talking with my friends as well, but they're all busy usually. I'm too nervous to get a job right now, but I need a new hobby or something, because my depression is making my other hobbies seem boring a lot of the time. So, any suggestions would be wonderful. My only restriction is I have severe allergies (so no cats/rodents/plants), and please nothing with kids. ![]() ![]() |

Sometimes volunteer work is whole lot less stressful than employment. i think that is in part due to the fact that there isn't the same pressure to perform.
Volunteering has been very beneficial to me. First of all it has been a great and rewarding experience. it has given me a sense of contribution that I have sorely missed since I stopped working. But there are other factors: - I have gotten out of the house and it has given me something to look forward to - it has provided a sense of routine - it has given me opportunity to meet people and socialise - it is giving me valuable work experience; and - it is proving to be a positive transition back to working again There are other ways to occupy yourself. Check out bulletin boards for groups and activities postings at your library, grocery store, etc. Are you able to financially manage signing up for an activity (art for instance) in your community? You seem creative, have you given thought to exploring other art forms and media? good luck! |

All of your points are exactly why I was interested. I loved my job there while it lasted and I would love that sort of volunteering experience again, I just really have no idea where to go. I'm actually unsure that we have anything like that where I live... I don't think there is any public bulletin. I'll keep it in mind though. I could do that. What do you mean though, like a class, or a group? Photography is something that I've considered. I could save money to buy a decent camera, the only problem is I'm extremely paranoid about walking alone. My neighborhood is fairly safe by all accounts, I just have anxiety. (I wish I could just borrow someone's big dog haha) Sorry if I was very choppy and repetitive in my reply, I feel like I was but it may have just been going back to edit it. |
