I asked for it actually. I hated the job, it was pretty terrible. I was off sick for some days and they called/texted me. So I sent an email to my supervisor explaining how I felt.
Now I’m supposed to go in there tomorrow to wrap things up.

It’s humiliating and a defeat. I didn’t like it and I hope this is for the best. I’ve been having an awful time ever since I started. And not just the usual new-work-nervousness.

I had so much hoped that this job would be the way for me to get my life more on track...

My experience with being happy or unhappy at work has been associated with the supervisor I had. The right boss makes all the difference in the word and a crappy one is just hell. When looking/interviewing for your next position, try to find a connection to your supervisor. Make a list of traits you like and dislike so you can ask probing questions about their management style and the company culture.
Good luck and know that going to a job you hate is just plain unhealthy so don't beat yourself up. You made a positive decision for you self improvement.
Thanks for this!

Thanks Minnow for the encouragement. You’re right it really isn’t healthy. Even though people around me act like “but you have to stick it through” even though they knew how miserable I was.
A good supervisor is everything, yes. This one was nice enough but often felt like we talked past each other.
I feel a bit defeated now but try to look at it more positive like you.

Hi Mat,
I'm sorry you had such a crappy experience at this job. I work full-time, but I don't think I could have handled your job--it sounded like a perfect storm of needing to be always on with evaluating eyes always on you and no support. I agree with others that the fine art of being a good boss or supervisor is one not practiced as widely as it should be, to put it politely, and that sort of thing can touch the most vulnerable parts of us. I hope you have another opportunity soon where you are properly respected and supported. I think the fact that you are willing to try so hard automatically makes you a good employee.
Thanks for this!

Thanks! Yes it was very stressful and not rewarding at all.
Now I have to go back to talk with the supervisor. I want to just stay away. I’m so bad at these things, ending things in a good way. I always just stay away and never return.

Sorry to hear this job didn't work out, but it sounds like it's for the best. I tried working in a certain industry for quite a while (food industry) before realizing it was not right for me. Sometimes we have to go through jobs we don't like before finding out what we do like, or at least what we can tolerate. I hope you are able to find another job soon, and one that does not cause you as much stress.
Thanks for this!
