generally, I'm prone to burnout and have come to expect it at least once a year. like a lot of others, my burnout is connected to my depression, anxiety, chronic pain, fatigue.

lately, I've been experiencing a different kind of burnout than I usually do. my burnout is usually an obvious and dramatic crash and return. these days, my burnout is more of a persistent, long-drawn sense of tiredness that doesn't go away. this might be because on top of burnout from things happening right now, I'm still, in some ways, recovering from the effects of burnout from things that happened months or even years ago.

does anyone experience something similar? sometimes I feel like I'll never recover from burnout :-S and maybe that's the case...? what has helped in making your life more sustainable for your mental, emotional, and physical well-being?

Burning out once a year is a major sign that some big changes need to happen to ease the burden on your mental and physical health. Long term burnout is very hard to fix.

Have you been checked out physically for an ongoing health issue that is impacting your mental health? Major changes may need to be made in order to make your life more bearable. Hope there are some other wise owls here that can give you the advice you need.

I am burned out right now from getting my Bachelors degree and i am now just realizing i have free time to relax now as I don't have a job and can afford to relax like i need to soo bad right now. I also am going to take flute lessons to pass the time. I was going to give piano lessons but even that is too stressful right now.good luck

Thank you for your post. I feel like I could have written it. So yes I experience these feelings as well as others. What has helped me over the years is intense exercise and weightlifting. You may feel like you are too worn out at first but I find that it really helps me with burnout and other things. Take care.

I hear you. Lately I've been feeling burned out from life itself. ("Lately" meaning several years). It just doesn't work and it's sort of "there". Not much to look forward to or get excited about really.

I feel I also experience both short-term and longer-term burnout.

The longer-term burnout is a burnout stemming from my traumatic childhood and earlier life. I "hit a wall" back then, in my early 20's and have never fully recovered. (I deal with CPTSD.) I now get stressed very easily, compared to my resilience years ago.

What do I find helpful?
I find Mindfulness practices helpful.
I find exercise helpful.
I find a balanced life helpful.
I find setting healthy boundaries helpful.
I find supportive friends/acquaintances helpful.

This is an important topic. I hope the exchanges continue on this thread.
What do any of us find helpful?

My best to you!

thank you so much for all these responses! I usually like to reply one by one but I've just been listening and soaking it all in, and am grateful for you sharing your experiences. It's sad to hear how many of us are tired so much of the time but I'm also glad I'm not alone in this.
