More than a week ago my psychiatrist cut off our relationship... We weren't progressing anyway, so she told me it was better for me not to go to her office anymore. So I may say I am free right now, no doctor, no therapist... It's not different from when she was my doctor.

She said that maybe some psychodynamic therapy might help me and she advised me to look out for someone with psychoanalysis experience, according to her, I should ask my sister to help me find someone.

My sister has not been a great help, she doesn't know much about the different psychotherapies yet... According to her something in the psychodynamic branch might be good, but not psychoanalysis, but at the same time her knowledge isn't enough to say exactly what kind. I really need to find someone, but I don't know what to look for. And it's now or never

I am glad you won't be investing more time in an unhelpful therapeutic relationship. I am concerned the number of psychodynamic therapists may be few. Might someone from the psychology department of a nearby university be able to point you in the right direction?

I should ask advice from some old professors... Have no idea how to do that. Maybe I will ask my sister if she agrees with my idea. There is this doctor that is part of some national psychoanalysis societies and that is responsible for a pos graduation in psychodynamic at my former university... I want to ask him but I haven't any idea on how to approach him, or if it is the right thing to do.

Hope you'll be able to find another one soon. No point in continuing therapy if it's not helpful to you.

I just want to find a good therapist but I have the impression I am a really hard case, not a common one that therapists are used to deal with, and I feel my mental issues have a big potential for being misunderstood.
My personality disorders, my anxiety, my dissociation, my depression, my past and upbringing.
I know there isn't a miraculous formula and that worries me. Maybe there is a good enough approach, but where? And the ones who say that know it, can they apply it on me?

Do you suggest something?

I just don't know what to say...but be careful mulan....you may not be such a hard case...and those experts may not have answers for YOU...don't count too much on what others say about YOU...

Excellent advice as always from the Wonderful Rohag
(NO sarcasm here. I wish there were “therapists” in this jungle who had half the wisdom and compassion that little turtle, Rohag and some others here have )

Mulan I know from experience that little turtle is correct

(I wish I knew that when I was “young” before I was harmed so much by so called experts )

No one has the right to take you, or any of us, down.

I am probably going to take a look and see what it is about. .. But wish I had time and willingness to read.

I am in favor of logic and science and then there it comes mental health and I don't know at which ground I should stand. I should go for the logic and the scientific explanation, but the mind is so tricky.
Bio psycho social models, genetic and imbalances all the way, functional studies and cerebral connections. I don't have any proof but my childhood issues, the little small child inside me, seem so alive.
