If anyone remembers my previous posts, I'm doing my bachelor's in India and trying to pass the exams I've flunked. I apologize for the religious stuff and I don't mean to hurt anybody's beliefs, but it's pretty important to the context.

So me and my mom have a discussion about something and it leads to a discussion about my backlogs. The thing is, I keep failing some subjects even if I'm not supposed to, and I've verified my answers with the teachers right after writing my final exam. I'm not supposed to fail.

Here, a lot of times, people who don't even know how and why they passed the exam pass the exam[no hate towards them] and other people who are supposed to pass, don't. So my mom keeps saying stuff like "ask god for help, he'll definitely help you" and "put this ring and necklace with god's idol on and it'll help you succeed with your hard work and pass the exams".

What she didn't know until two days ago was that I had put my trust in what she said about a year ago and promised in a temple that I would go around the temple 108 times[Hindu religious stuff] if I pass all my engineering exams. And this was 2 attempts ago. I've written my third attempt and I've yet to see how that turns out. Now that I told her that, she says stuff like "ask again, it's not a rule that you'll get your wish fulfilled everytime you ask" and "you have bad supernatural stuff surrounding you, the ring and necklace will help you get out of that".

I get where she's coming from, but I just don't get it It's hard enough for me as it is, my mind going haywire in the exams and not remembering stuff I put effort into. Do I have to ask for supernatural help even if work for what I deserve? Why can't I be someone who gets stuff the easy way?

P.S: JessLynn and seesaw, I'm not so good at chat conversations. That's why I posted a thread, nothing more. Just sayin

Well... I'm not a religious person. And I don't believe in the supernatural. I accept the explanation for the existence of life on earth (including human life) that is provided by the theory of evolution.

I don't know why it is you're failing some of your subjects. But I am personally comfortable in saying that it doesn't have anything to do with the supernatural. Since your mom believes in this stuff, though, if you want to indulge her by praying & wearing what she tells you to wear, I think that's very kind. But, at least from my perspective, it's not going to get you a passing grade on your exams.

It's been many years since I was in school. But I recall one time sitting in a large lecture hall (sweating over my own exam book) while other students were doing the same. When each student had finished her or his exam, s/he was to set the completed exam on a shelf in the back of the auditorium on their way out. Another student, whom I vaguely recognized, walked in late, took someone else's exam from the stack of completed exams, copied it, & put both the pilfered exam, & his own exam, on the pile of completed exams on the shelf. Then he left.

For some people, studying & taking exams comes easily. For others, like me, it was always a chore. I could get good grades if I applied myself. But I really had to work at it. And then... like the guy I mentioned above... some people cheat. (I also wouldn't be surprised if some students get "a pass" if the professor(s) particularly like them.) I obviously don't know anything about the school you attend. But I feel safe in saying that there's a very down-to-earth reason why you're failing some of your subjects. You just have to figure out what it is. My best wishes to you...

First off, it's awesome that you work so hard despite stuff like that without losing hope, unlike me. There's no felling that's better than seeing your hard work paying off.

I believe in supernatural stuff, but I don't really have a good impression of it. I believe in the theory of evolution to.Not really a religious person either. Actually, I put on the ring thing six months ago and weirdly enough the results came the next day and I flunked an exam, and that's impossible according to what I wrote in the exam. When I tell my parents that, they don't accept that. I'm sort of in a rage right now. I put those on again about 25 minutes ago. Well, I did pass 3 out of 11 subjects as I just found out now. But still, what about the other ones? I'm supposed to pass some more. And about teachers liking some students more than others, the people who correct the papers aren't necessarily the teachers we know; it's completely random. Apparently, sometimes it goes to other colleges for correction. Apparently.

Thanks a lot for the support
