I just got in therapy for severe depression and anxiety. But I've been constantly feeling suicidal for so long and am so depressed. Nothing seems to ever help. When I'm happy it all comes crashing down. I haven't told my therapist about this, or that I've half heartedly attempted before. I don't want to end up hosptialized. I'm so tired of feeling like this though. My friends and boyfriend have also expressed their concern. My medication also doesn't seem to help. I think it may have even made things worse. I need advice on what to do...I'm so tired and cry myself to sleep every night.

My advise is to be honest. Your therapist can't properly help you without knowing the whole story. When it comes to the half-hearted attempt, if you don't want to tell him, I get that but I doubt he'd put you in the hospital since it's happened so far in the past (unless I'm misinterpreting this and it was recent, then I think you really do need more intensive care). When it comes to the meds, they could've very well made it worse, you need to tell your doctor asap so that can be managed. This is a good and safe place to talk and I'm glad you're talking here, though I wish you weren't hurting so bad.

This was very recent. I've trued to end everything three times in the last few weeks. I went to the hospital bbut never told them everything and they let me go without help. My friend got so concerned she had the police coem check oon meand then came down to see me herself. I can barely go to classes or work like this. Sometimes iIdon't. I just want some temporary relief rather than having myself keep feeling worse aand worse

I think you need immediate help. I've been hospitalized, it's nothing to be ashamed of. Please seek help.

Hi Cb16699. Hang in there please, it's not uncommon for depression and anxiety to persist, even while doing your best in dealing with it. If you haven't already done so, you can browse Psych Centrals resources or click here Resource Directory | Psych Central which will take you to that page. You may find the resources quite useful. Try not to give in to thoughts of hopelessness and keep reaching out as well. A lot of members here can relate to your situation.
