Part of your post, "the situation attempts to rise up out of my control," suddenly made me think of old fashioned glass blowing? How they work and shape the glass and all and how it almost looks out of control, "dangerous" but ends up beautiful?

Try not to be so hard on yourself. You can't control the actions of others, all you can control is yourself, and if you started off with the right intentions, then you're not the one that should be feeling so bad. Sometimes things just turn out differently then we anticipated, and we just have to roll with the punches.
