I don't know if the following is emotional abuse or not.

What do you think of a mother saying:

"When your dad and I found out we were pregnant with you he suggested an abortion because I was 38 years old at the time (this was before having children so late was fashionable) and it would be a risky pregnancy, but I don't believe in abortion so I said no."

What do you say to that?

It is very hard to have an opinion over a statement without the context around it.
Maybe she was trying to tell you she was willing to fight for you!
Maybe she was trying to tell you she felt she had to have you!
Maybe she was going to tell you something she didn't get to...

without context, don't know.

I agree with Gloria. I wouldn't call it emotional abuse at face-value. Those are the mother's facts. I guess it depends WHY she is telling you.

The only way you can find out why she's telling you is to ask her.

We are ALL going to be a-ok!
