Here's an interesting article I found while doing some psych research reading:

Being kind to yourself has mental and physical benefits -- ScienceDaily

It turns out, there is great usefulness in following the advice urging us to be gentle, kind, and compassionate with ourselves!

It's a little on the technical side, but it's a re-assuring read.

What are we going to gain by being cruel to ourselves anyway? Great info MuseumGhost! Thanks.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, MuseumGhost! I'm sure it will help many other people here on PC. I completely agree with it. Loving ourselves can have great effects on our mental and physical health. I hope you'll all be able to see yourselves as the wonderful people that you truly are. A bit of self-kindness and self-love goes a long way. You're all wonderful people. Please try to be kind to yourselves if you can. You deserve it. You deserve to be loved by others and by yourselves as well. You deserve to live a good life. Stay strong, everyone. Stay safe and take care of yourselves. You're all wonderful people. Please don't give up. You're all awesome! You're all strong! You're all warriors! Sending many hugs to everyone

I know, we hear the phrase all the time. But knowing there are real, useful benefits makes it even more important.

It made such a ginormous difference in my life, when I could grasp that beating myself up can be overcome with a kind of self-love and practical, positive self -help.

I'm so glad people take the time to read and respond so kindly.

Thanks, everyone, you're the best!!

Also, That's a wonderful quote on your page, Chemist.

Thank you for sharing this valuable information, MuseumGhost. I recently discussed this topic with my sister. She was feeling embarrassed about how often she's been treating herself lately. She's going through a really stressful time and I emphasized that self-compassion is so important...now and always. I also mentioned that in my experience, people who value themselves tend to be easier to get along with and often make strong contributions to the world. Though of course I am not slamming people who struggle with self-loathing...depression can trigger that within any of us.

I will share this article with my sister as evidence Much appreciated.
