Charles Frederick Worth was an English fashion designer who founded the House of Worth, one of the foremost fashion houses of the 19th and early 20th centuries. He is considered by many fashion historians to be the father of haute couture. Worth is also credited with revolutionising the business of fashion.

These are two gowns he designed:

This one reminds me of a gown Miranda Ricardson wore in the 1999 film Sleepy Hollow.

Absolutely gorgeous!!! Thank you for sharing HappyCrafter.

Did you ever see the TV program years ago The House of Eliott? About two sisters making dresses. My sisters and I were obsessed with it back in the day. Disclaimer: I was very young when i watched it a long time ago....distant memory....no idea what I'd think of it now. Maybe worth a look?

i remember as a young girl, I wanted to be Evie. Bahahaha.

I am a legal adult and I want to become the Last Dragonborn and go to the land of Tamriel in the world of Mundus. Haha.

Edit : Humor (which is based on facts) aside, I really regret my choice of not taking math at higher level. One of my dream jobs, that will never be accessible to me, is becoming a programmer at Bethesda Softworks. Here you need math as a subject to get into engineering college. And no engineering degree means no job for you, unless you took math at higher level. Without an engineering degree I would not have visa permissions either. It really sucks, how one mistake can ruin some part of your life filled with potential.

I find StarTalk to be amazing. I am learning so many things by watching it. The video I've linked above, consists of everyday astrophysics. Questions from Twitter were compiled and Neil Tyson answered those questions in an extremely elegant way. I cannot find a better video to spend your 50 minutes watching.

It's really interesting and fascinating, the talk. So if you have the time to watch it (50 minutes), by all means go for the video I've linked above.

Or perhaps that just didn't need to be one of your paths in life, LC? The older you get, the more you'll see that there are many avenues we can take in life....it's really not about the "right" one versus the "wrong" one.....the paths we choose are not the source of our peace and happiness. Those stem from taking time out from the decisions and pressures associated with choosing paths. You are very attainment-oriented. I understand that and I also recommend leaving some room in your mind for experiences that have nothing to do with work and credentials. I completed grad school with plenty of letters after my name. I've successfully worked in two different careers. None of that brought me true peace or joy. Seriously. Peace and true happiness are no more related to academia and work than to wealth and physical beauty. Peace lies within you; not externally to you. It cannot be purchased in a store or obtained in university or acquired at the gym or salon.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm preaching. I don't mean to. I just sincerely wish someone had said that to me 10-15 years ago. But better late than never for me

I know there are many things about me that are due to mental illness and/or maladaptive behavior. My "attainment seeking" (in my words) behavior is also one of them. It's how my parents think and how I was taught to think. I do not think like my parents for the most part but after all I am only a human and as I still live with my broken parents I have to at least for some part "think like them."

Back to the maladaptive behavior, it's one of the things I know but I've planned to change it after I become independent.

I was raised with that type of thinking too LC. I understand you. My mother pushed and pushed even though I already got the great grades and wanted to learn. I think her awful pushing and pressure is one of the main reasons I ended up terribly depressed from ~ 14 to 18. I cannot understand why some parents don't just want their children to be happy and well. Anyway, at this point in my life I am actively working on un-learning a lot of the unhealthy ideas they pushed on me even when I was 5 years old. I didn't have any balance back then....study, study, study and no hobbies. Later when I had moved out and completed college, it turned into work, work, work. I didn't even realize I was doing it until I started to get sick.

I was trying to be helpful but if it didn't come across that way, I take it back You have my support and I want you to be happy. How you decide to be happy is entirely up to you

Silver, I rarely take offenses. I have a very passive personality (probably bargaining with Dormmamu did this ) so you need not to worry about how I perceive your replies. And nevermind that, cause I never perceive your posts as "attacking", although my lack of emotions may create the tone of my posts which may give the wrong impression.

My lack of emotions is a very serious issue. My psychiatrist says it's apathy. But I think it's something much more serious, like frontal lobe dysfunction (as I read in a neuropsychiatric journal, patients with epilepsy and psychosis have frontal lobe degeneration.) So I am never going to be a socially apt person, but I am still trying to make most out of life. I was given antielliptic medication by my pdoc so I think it's epilepsy.

And a big thank you for caring about me.

I find a great deal of beauty in music, and certain musicians have resonated with me since I was very young. EJ is one those musicians. I think this artwork for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is beautiful.
