Today I realized I’m a 350 pound, jobless, 26 year old, with nothing going for him. I have 57 cents to my name. One functioning hand. A resume full of employment gaps. I don’t know what I want to do with my life. No matter what I try, I fail. The only saving grace? My gf and farther. If it wasn’t for them I may not be here.

I hope that, in some way, you will be able to find a pathway forward.

Do you really think marriage is a wise move, if you don't have an income? You are so young. You can lose the weight, get a job, and feel good about yourself again. Nothing in life is permanent. With each day, there is always another chance to change the trajectory of your path. You are not trapped in your current circumstances although it will feel like you are. Change takes time. Maybe postpone getting married until you get back on your feet financially and emotionally. Marriage is a HUGE step and if you're not stable in the other areas of your life, getting married certainly won't improve those areas or solve those problems. |

So sorry you're feeling awful Stuck1nhead. Try not to evaluate yourself in such harsh terms. What about your strengths? We all have some. Grab a piece of paper and write them down. Your fiance can give you a few to get started

Since I posted this back in February not much has changed. I’ve lost a little bit of weight and I’m about to marry the women whom I love. Well at least not much has changed in the job department at least.
I’ve tried workforce centers, job agencies, and even those for people with disabilities. Nothing I’ve had interviews, but the combination of my disability and employment gaps destroy any chance I have. I can’t even work around food since I have to use my mouth to open bags of stuff. So that eliminates any fast food jobs. Also due to my hand I can’t lift items that require two hands. My difficulty is I’m a blue collar worker with a blue collar job history. So no office jobs will hire me. |

Disability vocational services must provide you with services finding and securing job. That’s what they here for. If you qualify for their services.
