I found out that I tend to get depressed when I'm angry and don't deal with it in other ways. So, I thought I'd tell you that it's something to consider if you're depressed. Hope you feel better soon!

One of the old theories about depression was that depression is from repressed and unaddressed anger. I think you’re right on target here. I think that other unaddressed triggers can wreak havoc with our disorders too. Unaddressed causes of anxiety for example. Once we recognize triggers, what to we do to cope or reduce the triggers? That’s what I struggle with.

Thanks - I experienced this yesterday n was very confused. When I asked about it others seemed to only have the knowledge of depression I did .. its an self hatred type thing, not an outward hatred type thing .. however when I experienced it I even hated myself for feeling such a powerful anger but it was an all consuming anger so the best I could do was contain the action of it ..
But afterward .. and after the relief of that consuming anger being gone .. i wanted to die in a very powerful way.

A saying that has stuck with me is "Depression is anger turned inwards."

It's been an entire process for me to even admit, acknowledge and understand that I have anger.

Thanks for the reminder!

Yea - "hatred" is basically anger.

So hating yourself is anger at yourself.
Depression though involves a hatred for self that just lags on n on and stays "stuffed inside" you .. and doesn't have an easy time getting out.

Sometimes that hatred of self has a root cause, sometimes not .. but its always there.

That's how its anger toward inward.

This particular thing described in this post I see a bit diff .. bc it remains an outward anger - that you try to control by suppressing parts (but not all) of it .. and then never revisit it either bc you never have opportunity or just dont want to .. does that make sense?
