Communication problems

Sometimes I fail to understand the context, almost always only online. And then I post some reply / thread over the internet and end up humiliating myself. I understand I may have Asperger's, but is there any remedy to this?

I can not help I’m afraid, but hope to assure you that you are not alone, IMO, the very fact you don’t have cues, such as face n voice to pick up on, can make online contact that bit harder to interpreting the given context. I am sure someone who knows more will be of help

One hypothesis of mine is that I do not concentrate on what the other person has written in their post / thread, I listen to music, which in stimulates some daydreaming and then I browse the forums. That is, lack of concentration may be the reason that I reply irrelevantly.

I agree with Miss P. Communication can be much more difficult online, for the reasons she stated. We can’t see each other’s facial expressions, hear each other’s voices, no body language ... and for some of us there are trust issues, maybe Aspergers, many other reasons online communication can sometimes be difficult. I think so long as we genuinely try to show others respect (and I think also nearly everyone has made mistakes at some point) and do our best to be kind... also sometimes an apology can go a long way if we have unintentionally hurt someone. On the other hand, some people for whatever reason will not accept an apology (Not anyone online... just in general). I don’t understand this but can only think it is about them and their issues. I’m sorry this is so long and rambly. You’re not alone in sometimes finding online communication hard.
