The negative chatter inside my head will not stop.
![]() Does anyone have any positive self talk they use to help somewhat? Eg, “I ..... Not “you” etc.. My apologies that there may be a similar thread. I wanted this in my own thread. Grrrrrrr I’m so tired of the abusers voices in my head ![]() All the negative chatter and scary thoughts, they won’t stop ![]() This is “usual” for me ... but even worse lately ![]() Maybe I’m reaching the end of my frayed rope ![]() That quote to parents which goes something like “be careful what you say to your child, your words will become their inner voice” ![]() ![]() I so wish I could “move on” from the chatter inside my head (“move on” isn’t one of my favourite terms, I constantly try to “move on” from traumatic thoughts and they “move” right back in ![]() Maybe I’ll flush them away. Maybe it might work this time ..... ![]() ![]()

Fuzzy I truly feel for you as I too suffer from constant yammering in my mind: Things I have to do, things I haven't done, continual negative criticisms of myself, and so forth.
One way I try to deal with this is with the yoga technique of focusing on my breath, narrowing my focus to that alone, and repeating some sort of mantra. This can be literally anything repetitive and neutral in feeling tone. In my case it's a brief series of words repeated over and over again. If I can succeed in this my focus will narrow enough to what I'm presently engaged in that the negative chatter begins to recede and I feel some relief. It's the pits that negative self-talk endures long after the environment that led to it may be gone. (((((( ![]() |

Based on my reading of the forums and a little on my own experience, it seems to me a person has four basic approaches to unwanted, intrusive thoughts: 1. Attempt to silence the thoughts. 2. Attempt to ignore the thoughts. 3. Attempt to engage and challenge the thoughts. 4. Attempt to acknowledge the thoughts without challenging them with the hope or expectation the thoughts will dissolve. What works for one, may not work for another. What works at one time, may not work at another time. ??? ![]()
