recently i read in this forum people saying that their mental health is their priority. this really made me unsure (about myself) because it made me realize i have never consider my mental health as my priority. my initial thought when i read that sentence is “am i even allowed to?”
i have been taking online counseling for about a year (until now), and i have learned how to treat myself more gently than before. but i never think of it as my priority because i have always felt like im not supposed to. im just curious about how you guys felt, do you consider your mental health as your priority? what does that really mean? |

I think I need to start taking much better care of my mental health. I’m hard on myself and that takes a toll on a person after a while. Mental health is just as important as physical health.

I think if I didn't see my mental health as a priority I don't know exactly where I would be right now. I am really new in getting treatment and focusing on healing and things I have gone through in my life. I know I need these treatments and my therapist in my life.

Absolutely!!! My mental health determines how my life runs and contributes to my physical health.
Mindset is EVERYTHING!

I am taking one day at a time. I have had continuous stress for a long time.
I am making my health a priority. I also agree with LilyMop and Fuzzybear ![]() |

I dont and havent. Ive experienced a lot of disassociation where I just let myself get under so much stress and pressure that I go numb for MONTHS. I will do fine during this period and then it's like my mind and body will try to "catch up" my lost emotions and feelings during that time because I end up having uncontrollable spells of crying for HOURS even at work. It is humiliating and I realized I have put work and jobs where they would replace me the second I leave above my mental health all together.

I absolutely do. I left my last job because it was taking too much of a toll on my mental well-being. If you're constantly so stressed that you can't function, what kind of life is that? Rather economize, be poor, and be happier.
Wishing you well.... ![]() |
