Let me start off by saying that I am NOT suicidal. This isn't about me. This is about a friend of mine. I know her over the internet and have chatted (voice) several times. I know her as Kitten, and she knows me as Coyote. Real names are rarely, if ever, used.

The problem is that SHE is suicidal and I have NO IDEA how to help her. So I'm here. I want advice and opinions. Anything that will help me help her.

Now on to her. This started with a thread, posted to my gaming clan web site where we both hang out.

Today she contacted me by xfire (an instant message service) and told me she wanted to talk (voice). There are pieces missing from the convo because it was spoken. There are also mentions of other people since it's a multi-person voice server.

Remeber I said i was having surgry I can't hey said my heart cant stand another surgry I got this phone call just a few minutes ago with this news so they said only 7 months live so thats when my b-day is in 6 months but all they told me my records they checked says i cant have any surgry so as I grow to 14 it maybe my last birthday I am very sad to say I will be going very soon so young Ill be on Vent,xfire if you have any questions .

As you can probably tell, I'm doing my best to keep her talking to me and active but I don't know what else to do. I don't have access to her parents, let alone even know where she lives (she's 13 and I'm 24, can you say 'creepy'). So please, any advice you can give me would help.

well, i would recognize my own limitations... there's little you can do physically, so thats out...

i would evaluate my own ability to manage this type of problem... if i found myself shortcoming, i'd seek help, which is what you've done here...

dealing with issues of death is never easy... most admit a loss of words or ideas...

some, but not all, suicide cries are for attention... one should never assume its the case though...

what you hope to achieve is for Kitten to reconnect with a desire to live...

you may try mentioning favorite things, encourage her to remember favorite times and places...

any suggestion has a potential for backfire and so you feel pressured to be extra cautious..

you should recognize for your own sense of well being that what Kitten does is not your responsibility...

i would use whatever personal information i had available and attempt to contact a friend or relative wh lives nearby so they can check in and assume the caretaker role...

Thank you for the reply nowhere. That is about where I'm stuck at. I'll continue to do my best in this. Also, sorry it took me a while to respond, but I too was hoping for a few more responses.
