I have lost all interest in doing anything. I thought that as I got vaxxed and we started turning the corner on COVID I would feel a sense of wanting to do things again but I just don’t anymore. I tell myself I’m gonna go to the place I used to hike but the weekend comes and goes and I never do. All my old interests I kind of feel blah about. I’m falling behind at work. I’m giving up hope that I will get my life together. I’m drifting apart from my family. I went to a movie the other week but I just wanted to scroll through my phone in the theater. I wasn’t really paying attention. I’m hoping this passes soon. I am finding just being alive to be a chore.

I'm sorry. Hopefully things will feel back to normal when the covid thing is finally over with.

i can relate to what you're saying. This for me has been going on before covid i think. i think it may simply be due to depression at least in your case. Are you currently getting treatment? In any case i think that even simply trying to go and do new things is better than not trying at all so kudos to you for still giving it your best. Sorry if this post isn't really Helpful. Just try your Best. Stay Safe and Sending Love. Sending many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @annoyedgrunt84, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

I can also identify. I think the term is anhedonia. Having a name to it doesn't really help much, aside from knowing what to look for to get potential solutions. Best of luck to you on finding some... I could use those as well.

I can relate. I’m struggling to find joy in being alive too.

I'm sorry you're having this difficulty. I also have little interest in doing anything. (I'm no longer employed. So at least I don't have that to worry about.) Around home I have a routine of household chores I do daily, or in some cases weekly. And I force myself to do those whether I feel up to it or not. But, beyond that, I just don't have much of any interest in doing anything.

I like the way you put it.

I can entirely relate to this feeling. Or really the lack of feeling. I'm at a point right now of just going through the motions of life. I do eat, I do go to work, I sleep (often too much). But it's just superficial. Even going online to give and find support sometimes isn't worth the effort.

Maybe your brain is protecting you. My depressed mood lately has been painful, & as if my brain doesn't like me.

ditto this.

one of the things I want to do is move back to the city I was born in

and when I ask myself why, it's just like well... I dunno, I don't really want to do anything- I'll just sit their like I am doing now.

so why put myself through the stress of a move if it's going to be for nothing?

I get what you're saying. I feel the same. I quit drinking in 2014 after it was getting out of control. My only option at the time was to be okay with boredom. You're not alone. Hang in there!

I have been feeling the same for quite awhile. I have a severely handicapped son that I am the main caregiver for.
My therapist says I need to stop being negative about myself. I replied that I do such a good job at it though.
