I lost confidence when I started having depression. I doubt every decision that I make everyday.

How do you guys regain your confidence?

I am sorry that is happening to you. Wish I knew how to help.

I tie my self-esteem to a narrow set of goals: trying to help people and animals. Since I am homebound because of illness, there are few animals I can help. I leave breadcrumbs and oats for the ants and bread for the birds. I try to help people online.

These give me a sense of self-esteem and confidence. Other things are of very low priority to me, so whether I succeed or fail at them is not of that great importance. Of course my circumstances are quite unique and so I am not qualified to give advice.

Hopefully you will find ways to restore your self-confidence. It is distressing to doubt all one's decisions. I have sad and bitter personal experience with that.

Depression is awful and brutal. Just surviving depression takes a good amount of basic heroism. Those not afflicted with depression have no idea how much nobility and stature it takes just to survive it.

Little successes in life lead to bigger ones. Do something that makes you feel good like walking outside. Also, be kind to yourself. If you make mistakes, remember we all make them. The lesson is to learn from them, not to be discouraged. Depression is difficult though to deal with. I took medication- Zoloft for it and felt better for a while until it made me manic. If you are not getting better, please seek professional help from your doctor.

Self confidence is the ability to trust one's intuition to execute a task or plan.

Hi I am not sure it will help but but your could practice affirmations. I have tried it and it does seem to help some. but its a long slow road and you are always fighting the negative thoughts. That's another you have to catch yourself when you are putting yourself down and basically try to argue against yourself. Maybe even just try to get up and get busy doing something. Anything, clean something
