Why am I listening to sad songs when I know they make me depressed?

Am I trying make my self depressed?

Maybe I like it?

Maybe I love self loathing

i think ive listened to sad music when i was depressed cause i could relate to the idea, the mood... it 'fit' how i felt...

i doubt you really like it Mat... maybe they are comfortable to hear... you know how you will feel, you know the words even, you can let the music carry you awhile, carry your feelings and your thoughts... you could feel some comfort that there's someone somewhere listening like you are, feeling like you do... heck, the songwriter surely knew what you would be feeling...

Sometimes I have trouble putting into words and "feeling" what I feel so go with the music. Yes, it does make one very melancholy, but is that a bad thing?

When I am sad, I do the same thing. I even make cd's and write all over it the feelings...then i feel stupid and dumb, but the tears are done running and i survive another day...you do what you have to do and when you hear that one phrase you lacked in describing to yourself how you felt, you can move on...it happens to me all the time..i hope you feel better, Numb melanie
