I know a lot of doctors/police/EMTs must see a lot of things that shake them and give them a depressed view on life. That's pretty much how i am thinking these days. Life is pointless, etc.

But you don't actually know their view... It could be that life is precious and that's why they do what they can to help. Don't read my post if you are depressed

Sounds like you're going through some tough stuff right now. Do you feel like talking about what's going on?

Lately instead of thinking about my little life here, small things like gettting a home, friends, job, etc. . . i think about bigger things. I think about how the sun is going to explode in 4 billion years or whatever, or how the solar system will fall into ruin, stuff like that and i am always thinking that life is pointless.

Yes, you are depressed. Don't read my post if you are depressed (((hugs)))

Firefighters and police don't think life is pointless because they are out there knowing the make a difference in many lives each day.

Thinking alot is a symptom of depression. Tell us what kinds of things you do to distract yourself from thinking. Distraction is good, even if it's computer games or movies, photography etc. Even when you don't feel quite up to anything, by pushing yourself a bit and doing you will begin to feel some better.

BTW I don't believe any of that about the sun and the solar system. Don't read my post if you are depressed

There are things that can't be changed for the better. There are children with terminal illness, then i listen to the radio and there is a fricken happy song on. Dont' they understand what is happening? Everything is trivial, the news is trivial, the elections are trivial, global warming is trivial, the school shootings in america are trivial, it's all trivia.

I don't care if the sun explodes, i'm sure by then humans will have the technology to fix it, i'm just sick of thinking of things that have no relevance to my life at present and worrying or geting depressed about them. I also have trouble finding a good psychiatrist at the moment.

Whatever happens, happens. I am just sick of stressing over it. This has been happening since last august, so it's been about 6 months now. I worry about dying so much i think of killing myself and it makes me relieved cos there is always a way out. But then that doesn't make sense cos suicide is dying too.

Sick of going round in circles.
