I called the crisis line last nite just to talk. the 1st time i was cut off and then i was interrupted 3 times because she had another line to get. The last one was so long i just hung up. I live in NC near a college town and surely you would think they should get more volunteers or maybe people don't want to volunteer. i went to see my therapist today and we agreed that i should go to the hospital but i just can't. my MaMA is 82 and depends on me to get from one place to another so i'm going in about twice a week. also i heard the unit at the hospital was not good at all and the rest are so far away. what would yall do in this kind of situation? i'm sittin here very depressed and can't make a decision..pj

if you dont help yourself first, you may not be of any help to your "mama".....go to the hospital at least to have someone with a
mental health background evaluate your situation...crisis lines are not reliable because like every other occupation....good help is hard to find.....hang in there and dont be afraid to ask for help.......

gosh that is really bad - i'm quite surprised too and to be honest a bit disgusted at the provision - you would think they'd have lots of volunteers esp near a college!
I think if you and your therapist have made a decision then maybe it is the right one, prehaps there is a neighbour or friend that can support your mum? Or maybe get in contact with the social services - they usually provide help at times...or a local help the aged charity?

sending you my prayers.

that is not to helpfull of a crisis line, just when you want to get help, its "hold on i have another call". That must have been frusterating.

Can you ask your therapist if there are any other options? Maybe your T knows someone who could evaluate you on an outpatient basis?

I hope you find the help that you need! Take care and keep us posted!
