It might seem somewhat glib to say, but it strikes me as likely that her own attitude and actions are the most likely cause of her icy attitude. If you're still "killing her with kindness", I see that as pretty probably. That's why it works. Mom's probably got a lot to think about, and it'd be easier for her if you weren't nice - this way, she has to come to grips with the fact that people (yes even her own children!) can be loving and warm under lousy circumstances, and she can't, not without significant reflection.

In other words, I wouldn't be surprised if this was proof that your actions are working. Keep it up! =)

Pseudonym... while i may be giving her the 'kindness treatment' on the outside... inside i am breaking up into little pieces...

Thanks Pseudonym... had to work over the weekend so i was able to get out of the house a bit....

spoke today for the first time in a few days... im so sick of the atmosphere... i apologized to her first.. hoped that would lead to a follow up reciprocal apology.. it did... whew!

but i know the cycle... im not fooled... she went and got the booze herself.... im still outta here!
