i had gone to a therapist on several occasions for depression ,but those tended to be a bit pricy. any ideas on maybe something through a group organization? ex: church

can you check craigslist.org in your area for support groups?

(exercise ordinary online protection precautions)

Also NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) has classes & support groups. DBSA (Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance) has support groups all over. Your local Mental Health America (formerly Mental Health Assoc.) should have some resources. Also a group called "Recovery, Inc." has meetings & is a self-help wellness directed group. Any group using WRAP--Wellness Recovery Action Plan by Mary Ellen Copeland is great.--Suzy

There are mental health clinics in each county (usually) that work on a sliding fee scale. Sometimes, the wait is a bit longer than we like though.
