Hi folks,
I'd like a bit of advice from anyone dealing with this stuff. One symptom of my depression is negative arising thoughts. These are thoughts that pop into my head. They are always scenarios where I have been put down or ignored by insensitive or angry people (including my parents). Sometimes I have had hundreds of these in a day. In the scenarios I try to pretend that the bad thing didn't happen, or rewrite the event in some way, but this is frustrating and doesn't work. I have had some success in reducing the thoughts recently, by acknowledging that I have in fact had some bad times, and allowing myself to feel and admit that. I am thinking that this is good steady progress, and I want to hold onto it. Is there anyone who has been successful in quieting intrusive thoughts and can share strategies with me?? Thanks, Myzen ![]() |
