When I am depressed I don't take very good care of myself. I don't shower, eat well, go outside, sleep alot......etc.

How can I start caring for myself and stop treating myself like trash?

Yes, I do the same thing. The house is a wreck, dirty dishes crusted with food everywhere, go days w/o a shower. I just get to that point where I don't care anymore. Then my T or pdoc appointment comes, and I know they can't see me like that. So I clean up, put on my face and out the door.

Come back home, same humdrum...

Sorry, no answers for you, just wanted you to know I can relate to how you feel!

Dee

I know exactly how you feel. Been there and done that. What got me out of it was self motivation. I know I had to get up and about even if I didnt want to. Set goals for your self, for eg. I am gonna get out of bed today etc. Take life one moment at a time and dont be too hard on your self.

I am in exactly the same spot as you and doing the same poor self-care. I feel stuck in a rut and can not seem to care about anything unless I absolutely have to do it. I do hope you get to feeling more able to break out of the rut and soon. I will keep you in my prayers today. I'm glad you wrote in and that I'm not the only one.

Let's make a small deal today - ONE thing that is good self-care. For me I will commit to taking a shower. Anything beyond that is gravy!

If you read this and want to buddy up this way, feel free to PM me or put it on here.

Anyone else struggling like us and want to agree to do one decent thing for our self care today, please write in.

Whitie the human cat gets me up in the morning whether I want to or not.
