It kinda sucks being seventeen with depression. All together, I've missed about two months of school over the past two years. It's just really annoying, y'know? Most adults that I've talked to tell me that I should treasure my high school years, but I'd rather put them faaaaarrrrrr behind me. If you aren't in the national honor society then you're nothing at my school. The average grade at my school is a b+. Heh, I haven't gotten a b+ in a core class in years. I know I shouldn't be making such a big deal about this, the elitist thing bugs me sometimes. I so can't wait for college (next year!!).

I hope you all are safe and well.

When I was 17 (many many years ago ) I too went through a severe depression. And I lost many months of my high school experience...Thank God! I have 4 children, all who have made it through high school..Thank God Again! Anyway...what I always told them was "People will say these are the best years of your life...but they're NOT...they are some of the most difficult!" 3 of my children do not have the depression that I had/have dealt with, but the youngest unfortunately does. She too lost a lot of her high school experience ..Thank God yet again. But she has had therapy to handle the "issues" involved with depression and takes medication daily....and now is a junior in college and loving it.....things will get better..and that's not to say it won't be work...but they do get better....just follow the plan that you and hopefully your Dr of therapist work out. Good luck

I'm so sorry that you are having a difficult time. Have you been able to find a good therapist? College actually was one of the best times of my life. I hope you find peace. Keep coming and talking to us. HUGSSSSSS

It's been my experience that A and B students grow up to work for C students. It has also been my experience that for those whose best years were in High School, remain some of the very most ignorant people in the world. Just get through it. You're right, it sucks.

Wow, am I just mr sensitivity this morning? I didn't know I was depressed yet when still in HS and the experience was one of isolation and alienation. When people told me they were going to be the best years of my life, I only felt that I had been born on the wrong planet.

I'd like to end this by saying something like, "and now see to what pinnacle of success I have attained," but then, that would seem an indefensible assertion. LOL. Suffice then to say, it gets better.

Peace.
